Durante los pasados días 15,16 y 17 de febrero en curso tuvo lugar en el Aula Magna de la Universidad de La Laguna un Seminario Internacional sobre Intervención en Autismo y otros TGD; Una perspectiva desde el Análisis Aplicado de la Conducta (ABA en inglés).Lo organizó el Departamento de Personalidad, Evaluación y Tratamientos Psicológicos y sus directores fueron Arquímedes Fernández Valdés y Pedro Avero Delgado.
Contamos con las intervenciones de los doctores Luis Antonio Pérez González, Pablo García Medina, la doctora Gladys Williams y don José Julio Carnerero.
Expusieron un panorama general sobre este tipo de trastornos, el espectro autista, y nos pusieron al día sobre la investigación en este campo en EEUU al tiempo que explicaron, con material propio de intervenciones previas con pacientes, los fundamentos de la terapia ABA y su modo de ejecución.
En el seminario también contamos con el testimonio de algunos familiares de afectados por alguno de estos trastornos. Siempre el matiz emocional es importante para apreciar la trascendencia de lo que se escucha. Desde aquí un afectuoso saludo para ellos.
Estos trastornos, en particular el autismo, han adquirido en la última década una relevancia clínica importante dado el incremento en su incidencia en la población en ese tiempo. Actualmente según nos contó la doctora Gladys Williams en EEUU se están llevando a cabo numerosas investigaciones sobre el trastorno.

Desde un punto de vista personal tuve la suerte de saludar al doctor Luis Antonio Pérez de quien había leído algunos artículos relativos a los procesos de aprendizaje que me han servido para la práctica profesional con discapacitados psíquicos. También saludé a mis antiguos profesores Pablo García y Pedro Avero... con quiénes suspendí varias asignaturas. En fin, nunca fui una lumbrera me temo.Además del reconfortante encuentro con compañeros de promoción. Un saludo para todos ellos.
